Statement

The strongest influence on my work has been my love of all art that combines a graphic use of color with a designer’s attention to line and edge. Using fabric as a medium was a natural choice for me because it lends itself beautifully to achieving these effects. At the same time, the process of constructing an art quilt appeals greatly to the puzzle-solver in me.

I find inspiration for my work everywhere and the subjects of my work can range from the abstract to the realistic. For me, the challenge and the pleasure of creating a piece lies in giving form to something formless. My recent work has been increasingly inspired by my experiences as an amateur musician. Each quilt is an attempt to visualize something about the act of making music or about its structure.
